
You'll have to get the rest yourself and they'll still be there when you next reboot :) Took less than 15 minutes, but that's because it literally comes with no applications but a terminal and text editor and Tiny Core utilites. I just made one big partition and ran the installer. I've installed it on my netbook and it's really easy.


regular installation isn't officially supported. Its biggest iso is 72 mb and it's designed to run entirely in ram.

It's very different and really only for extreme minimalists. Tiny core linux, though I'd recommend reading their website and philosphy before giving it a go. because its just easier to install the distro you use, on a usb, and be done with. now i know why there arent many guides to make a persistent usb. sometimes there is a bit of lag when something is about to write/save to the usb, but oh well, its not that bad for what i need. i downloaded a few drivers, and now it works fine. last update: i finally installed arch on a usb, just like installing arch on a hdd. i guess lubuntu will have to work for now. people need to give instructions on their website for those things, or im just stupid. update 2: couldnt figure out how to get alphaos or porteus on a usb with persistent, so i am now using Universal USB Installer and lubuntu. is there any other distro able to do that? is there a package, application or something that i can install in arch, or debian or any distro to let me save everything and load after the next boot? update 1: i downloaded alphaos, and porteus. i dont want to install the distro on the usb cause that would be slower to run. Wish me luck - even if it doesn't work though, I now have a bootable OS on a 16GB flash drive which I will set up so that I can add progz and customization that will stay and be ready for repair of others computers.I want to boot a distro from a usb and run live from ram, so its fast, do some work, save and then be able to boot again and continue where i left off. Damn yous, TrustedInstaller! I swear I gave myself full control the long, arduous way through Windows 10 and deleted it, but it's here. I tried changing the properties, and I swear I was able to delete that folder, but there it is again, taking up 10% of my main drive! Thank you again, even if this doesn't work, I have another computer I am working on with the same chipset (not that *that* matters in this case) and I can use that to delete the damned folder. I don't have UEFI, so I am hoping this will work so I can delete that pesky Windows.old file taking up precious real-estate on my (new, old one died) boot SSD. Thank you, by the way! For some reason, I tried using Windows ISOs burned onto USBs using Rufus and even burning DVDs, but they would not give me the prompt nor even show up properly in the BIOS. Linux Mint 18 is out now, not that it matters too much, but I thought I would remind you of this article in case you wanted to edit it.
